PCM compatability

I think that I may have a bad PCM in my daily driver. I listed the symptoms in my earlier post. My main question is could I take the PCM out of my other car and change it into this car to see if that may help my problem? I wasn't sure if the PCM's were VIN specific or would even work in other cars, I know that the programming will be different but I can correct that with Mad Wolf tuning.
