P1371

What is this code? Car drives perfect for about 6-7 miles then dies. Try to start back up it just cranks. Let it cool down for 30 mins and it starts like noyhing ever happened. Drive around for 6-7 miles does it all over again. The code i'm pulling is a 1371. Can't find any info.

I looked it up but can't help on the fix - P1371 Distributor Ignition (DI) Low Resolution Circuit.

I think that is an indication that your opti-spark is on its way out.

You might want to add basic info like the year of your car so people don't have to go to cardomain to find out.... codes for an LS1 would not be the same as an LT1 for example. In your LT1, that loss of low res pulse from the Opti, an it will prevent the car from starting, since the PCM shuts off the fuel system when it can't find the low res pulse pattern. Sounds like the optical sensor is overheating.

First verify that its due to the optical sensor overheating, and not come fluke coincidence with the wiring harness or corroded connectors. Then replace the Optispark.

I've had this happen


driving..............off, pull over..cranks up........ eventually it will get so bad you won't be able to crank it without a full cool down and it will only drive 5 miles or so untill it shuts off again. just like injuneer is saying it sounds like that damn sensor is getting to hot and pissing out.
