Code p1371
Code p1371
Ok so I just replaced the broken connector to my map sensor and also the corroded one on the IAC. Also I did a full tune-up including taylor wires, plugs, fuel filter, oil change and some fresh gas and with some injector cleaner. I have been having problems with the TPS(p0122) and today I got another one which is p1371.
On my little handheld scanner I was wondering about something else. It shows 5 INC- catalyst/Sec Air/o2 sensor/o2 htr and EGR, what does this mean? is it bad or just working.
Also it is showing 3 ready-misfire/fuel/comp.
I read where ppl that had the code p1371 was the result of a bad opti, but would it cause all of these other problems>???
Also when I got the code p1371 engine is running and I have never had it die on me before or after I found this code. Thanks

P1371 means the PCM AT SOME POINT could not find the low resolution pulse signal from the optical cam position sensor in the Opti. If the engine is running, its a "stored" code, and not an active code. When that code is "active" it shuts down the fuel system.
It isn't unusual to find P1371 as a stored code. I think it sets sometimes when the PCM has a hard time finding the pulse signal on initial cranking. Clear it and see how fast it comes back. The more frequently it appears, the more likely the optical sensor or the wiring harness has a problem.
The PCM is reporting what emissions systems are "ready" (functional), and what ones have not completed their ready state verification routines. I believe if you've cleared the PCM or any codes, it will take a number of drive cycles before the PCM will report certain systems as "ready". That prevents you from clearing the codes just before you go for an emissions check. Most testing will not pass you if you have more than 2 systems "incomplete".
