P0400 EGR & P1361 Codes on OBD2 LT1
P0400 EGR & P1361 Codes on OBD2 LT1
I scanned my 97 TA and came up with these codes:
P0400 EGR Recirculation flow malfunctioned
and
P1361 IC CKT not toggling or grounded
I guess the EGR needs to be replaced, but what does the P1361 code mean? Is that the optispark like I think it is? Please any help is appreciated.

Re: P0400 EGR & P1361 Codes on OBD2 LT1
The code for the Opti low res pulse is P1371. I think the P1361 you are seeing is similar to the DTC 42 in the OBD-I system. There is a fairly complicated diagnostic chart to determine the source of the problem, which could include:
-open ignition coil IC module ground circuit
-faulty PCM connection or faulty PCM
-grounded IC circuit between PCM and IC module.
-faulty circuit from coil to IC module
-faulty IC module connection
-faulty IC module
Shoebox may have the diagram and the sheet on his "Tech Pages".
The EGR code sets when the PCM does not see the required MAP change when the EGR solenoid is operated. Could be a bad vacuum line to the solenoid or from the solenoid to the EGR valve, faulty EGR valve, leaking EGR valve, plugged EGR passages or carbon buildup on the EGR pintle. Might want to check.... there may have been a recall on the 96/97 EGR valves. You will get the code more frequently if you have altered the exhaust to reduce back-pressure.... e.g. headers, cat deletion, catback, etc.
