I'm stuck. I'm supposed to go racing tomorrow, but both of my PCM's died tonight while I was flashing them. I'm using Tunercat's windows flash utility. It's not the car, because I tried to flash it in both my Z and my Impala. This is FAR from the first time this has happened. I've probably killed at least 10 PCM's in those 2 cars, and I know it's not the wiring because they both have the same kill rate of about 1 in 3.

What have you guys found to be the MOST RELIABLE flashing program? What could I possibly be doing wrong? System is using windows XP home, and no, I'm not retarded. I just don't get it.

 

Oh, I forgot to mention that I've got one more PCM that I'm going to try and flash in the next little while unless somebody tells me to do otherwise. Thanks

 

Are you using TC's latest Tuner Cat release? You should be running version 2.0 and I use the flash and read funtions direct from the main program. I use Windows XP pro in both my laptop and my desktop and I have no problems flashing or reading from either. However I do use a bench harness to connect to the PCM rather than going through the car harness.

Another possible problem could be your cable. Seeing how you ran into problems with two different cars.

 

No, I'm using version 1.98. I don't have the most recent one I guess? Could that be the problem? I need to fix this quick. I was going to leave tonight to go racing. Thanks for your help

 

DO NOT USE VERSION 1.98! This is why your PCMs are being corrupted, there was a problem with the FLASH utility in v1.98. They almost immediately found this out and released v1.99, which fixed the problem. Go get v2.00 before you try to do anymore programming or you are going to end up with another corrupted PCM

 

Well, I missed out on yesterday's racing but I just found out that there are some....ummm...."unsanctioned" street races going on tonight. I'd really like to make it. I've emailed Tunercat, but I'm sure they are not going to respond quick enough. Anybody have the update file that they cam email me to get me updated to version 2.0?

 

What do you mean? All you have to do is download it right from the website. It's right there with all the other programs.
