Need help I just put in a griffen radiator for an lt1 but I have one issue the radiator doesn't have the connection for the low coolant sensor. Everything is running fine but I have a check engine light and my fans are funny all the time. I thought about conncecting the sensor and leaving it in the engine compartment but then I get the low coolant light and the check engine light is still on and the fan is still on. Has anybody else worked around this any help or advice would be great

First off, I'm sorry for not having an answer. Like most sensors I would think it works on a resistance factor. If someone knows how to determine the correct resistance across the sensor then an inexpensive resistor can be used in place of the sensor and your pcm/ecm will be fooled into thinking that there's coolant in the radiator.

 

The low coolant sensor does not connect in any way to the PCM, so there is no way it is causing a check engine light or causing the fans to operate all the time. The sensor only turns on the "low coolant" light on the dash. If the coolant sensor is not attached to the wiring harness, the "low coolant" light will not come on.

You need to scan the PCM and find out what is causing the SES light and the fans to run - but it is not the problem with the low coolant sensor. I'd take a wild guess that the AIR pump fuse is blown, or you don't have the AIR connected.

My Griffin radiator came with a mount for the sensor.
