Hitting the rev limiter WTF??? LT1 editor
Hitting the rev limiter WTF??? LT1 editor
On the 2 - 3 shift, I am hitting the rev limiter, according to my lap top and the tachometer at 5950 rpm.
I'm also slapping the rev limiter on the 1 - 2 shift, but if I get a little guidance on fixing the 2 - 3 shift ... I'll be okay
What has me bugged is that I have the set the rpm limiter to 6,300 rpm in the chassis table.
I have set the WOT 2 - 3 shift for 79 mph, and I just slam into the rev limiter. According to my laptop, the speed is 79mph, but the rpm is only 5950rpm. WTF
What am I missing??
Do I need to modify the Normal and Performance vs Throttle position tables as well??
I never ran into this before because I only ran the stock engine to 5,900 rpm. Now I want to go higher, perhaps up to 6,500 rpm.
Any thoughts or ideas??
Thx for any help

You should modify all tables...
Check your tps to see that you where at 100% at that moment.. that could be your problem..
your rpms might not be accurate for some reason... I would suggest do a reflash with the same file...
Just to check.. make a read of the file in it.. make sure that you did change your rev limiter... Something is strange.. Remember to change the rev limiter in both constants location.
let me know
Thanks

Thx for the input Highlander, but I woke up at 3:00 am with a flash of inspiration.
I think my MSD BTM may be the limiter now, it has, I believe a 6000 pill in it.
How do you make the Homer Simpson .... Doh!! .... sound??
I'll repost my findings when I get a new pill.

Yup, it was the MSD pill after all. I had a 7000 rpm pill in the box, so I swapped it in and no more rev limiter.
Now, 79 mph for the 2 - 3 shift misses the rev limiter set at 6350, but gets very, very close ... the lap top said 6350 was attained, but that was supposedly after the 2 - 3 shift occured. The car tachometer read as high as 6,100 rpm. Good enough for government work.
As an aside, is it necessary to modify the Normal and Performance shift points vs mph tables ??
Any opinions or experience welcome

The NORMAL YES!!!
the performance, unless you have the switch...
Keep in mind that if the TPS goes below 100% the PCM will switch to the NORMAL table, thus, will go higher in gears using the normal table...
So you are launching... you burn too much you let off just a bit and the car might shift into second gear... then punch it again, pcm will go into the kickdown table and then go down to first gear and burn more rubber...
That is just an example.
