here is my datalog. can anyone decipher it for me..

Okay I picked up a used datalogger..works great but no book for it..can anyone decipher it for me and see if there is anything wrong. I do think my right side 02 is bad?it seems to be running rich. So if anyone sees anything odd just chime in..thanks..

a/c press. WOT. -35PSI - 5 min idle- 65psi - 10 min idle- 45psi
Don't know because I dont' have A/C.

coolant temp..wot- 186.8 f. - 5 min idle- 221.9f - 10min idle-220.5f
looks like your engine would benefit from a 160degF t'stat and lower fan temps.

map sens.- wot 1.86v. - 5 min idle- 1.11v - 10min idle- 1.18v
Definitely a problem. At WOT, MAP should approach barometric pressure, and that would be closer to 5.0V.

tps--------- wot 1.01v - 5 min idle- .54v - 10min idle-.54v
another major problem. At WOT, TPS voltage should be at least 4.5V and approaching 5.0V.

mnfold air temp.wot-51.7f - " " " - 91.3f - 10min idle- 103.1f
you can see the heat buildup in the inlet air when the engine is idling. Do you have a CAI? Might just be sensor heat soak.

left oxy.sens.- wot-871mv. - 5 min idle-308mv. - 10 min idle - 523mv.
The values at idle are meaningless.... the O2 voltage should be swinging rapidly back and forth between 0xx-9xx mV at idle, in closed loop. That's the problem with simply snipping a single frame out of a scan.... it doesn't show you all the info you need to analyze the scan. Was the O2 voltage cycling at idle? WOT looks like its on the edge of being lean, but the stock O2 sensors aren't all that accurate at that A/F ratio

rgt.oxy.sens.- wot- 866mv. - 5 min idle- 158mv. - 10 min idle - 259mv.
Same comment at left side.

LBM----------- wot-124 - 5 min idle - 115 - 10 min idle - 116
At idle, its pulling out 10% fuel to keep it from running rich. The fact that they are so close to each other is good. But 10% is a bit on the high side.... BLM's in the range of 120 - 135 are best, with 128 meaning the tune and everything else is correct. There are right and left values for 18 different "cells".... a single frame doesn't tell you much, and all ou have at idle is the value for Cell 16. At WOT, since the ECM is "reducing" fuel, it will typically default to the Cell 15 BLM's. If that's the Cell 15 BLM at 124, its good.

RBM----------- wot-124 - 5 min idle -112 - 10 min idle - 112
same comments as left side

block learn cell- wot- 7 - 5 min idle - 16 - 10 min idle- 16
Cell 16 is the normal cell for idle. In looking at literally 100's of scans, I've never seen one use Cell 7 at WOT. Something screwy.... if you had a complete log and not just a single frame, it would be possible to sort things out. A faulty MAP sensor would cause this, and as noted above, your MAP readings are wrong at WOT

left intergr8tr vlv. wot-132 5 min idle -126 10 min idle - 124

rgt intergr8tr vlv. wot- 132 5 min idle -124 10 min idle- 128
Generally, going WOT disables learning, and the INT's go to 128. Sort of odd that yours are at 132. At idle, and in general in closed loop, the INT's are changing up to 9 times per second, responding to the swinging O2 sensor values. Another case where a single frame of data is useless. Of course with the TPS and MAP screwed up, learning may still be enabled

ccp duty cycle. wot-17.5% 5 min idle - 0.0% 10 min idle -0.0%
This is telling you that the EVAP solenoid was operating at 17.5% capacity at WOT.... nothing unusual.

IAC mtr. wot- 68 steps 5 min idle-14 steps 10 min idle - 16 steps
A shade low at idle... but not a problem. Maybe a shade low at WOT, but not a problem

sparks advance- wot- 43' 5 min idle - 24' 10 min idle -24'
Way too much advance at WOT... who did your tune? You should be seeing less than 40deg advance at WOT, depending on the RPM and the MAP. Seems like your fubar MAP reading might be causing this one

engine rpm-- 2950rpm's 675rpms 675rpms
self explanatory

knock retard- wot- 0' 5 min idle- 0' 10 min idle- 0'
no knock retard is always good

throttle angle- wot- 16% idle 0% idle 0%
Here you see the results of the problem noted above with the TPS sensor.... the ECM thinks the throttle was only open 16%, but you are claiming you had it on the floor.

I hope you didn't just sit in the car in the driveway, and blip the throttle, and call that "WOT", because if you did, you've just wasted a few minute of my time?????

egr duty cycle- 0% 0% 0%
Normal.... EGR does not operate at idle or WOT

learned idle- wot-10steps 5 min idle-13steps 10 min idle- 15steps
low... related to comments above re slightly low IAC reading at idle

tcc status- wot-locked 5 min idle- unlocked 10min idle -unlocked
Normal, and would indicate you were actually driving it at WOT

ccp purge- wot- on 5 min idle -off 10 min idle - off
Confirms the EVAP purge data given above

learned control- wot- enabled " " " " -enabled " " " " -enabled
another problem... indicates you were not at WOT, at least in the ECM's eyes. "Learning" should not be enabled at true WOT. You screwed up TPS is telling the ECM its not WOT, so its not disabling learning and not operating in the correct cell.

loop status- wot- closed 5 min idle- closed 10 min idle- closed.
simply tells you the coolant was up to normal temps and the O2 sensors were hot enough to work. This means its gone into closed loop

Bottom line:

Your MAP and TPS sensors are really screwed up, at least if this is an accurate represenstation of a single frame at WOT.

You can't really analyze scan data this way. The idea of a log is to get several CONTINUOUS minutes of data, over a wide variety of operating conditions, and to watch how the values change with time.

Maybe my online scanner writeup would help you interpret your logs:

Re: here is my datalog. can anyone decipher it for me..

Wow thanks alot Injuneer this really helps me, yeah when I did the wot I was driving down the road. I have a auto xray, a handheld device just got it in today. only paid 50.00 for it.. It didn't come with the book, but it looks like I can save the datalogs. prob 5-10 diff. times. when I go to do the datalog, it only last like 10-20 secs. and stops..like it is finished. I will keep playing with it. the tps is only about a year old, I will get a new one, the map sensor, where is it located on my engine, I have a speeddensity, so no maf sensor.. I will pick up a map sensor also, and then I will run some more datalogs.. thanks alot...Lonnie

Re: here is my datalog. can anyone decipher it for me..

Oh forgot to mention I am running stock tune, longtube headers no cat, air, egr. cai. I have heads and cam on the way. then I am going to get a dynotune, I had a pcmforless tune, but let's just say I wasn't satisfied with it. so I am going to do the dynotune. could having these mods done and stock chip cause the funny readings, or do you think the tps and map is still prob. bad? thanks..

Re: here is my datalog. can anyone decipher it for me..

You can check the TPS with the scanner. Turn the key on, don't start the engine. You should be able to read the TPS voltage. With the blades closed, should read 0.50-0.70V and yours does, according to the data you posted. Start to slowly open the throttle, and the voltage should increase smoothly, up to about 4.5-4.7V at WOT.

The MAP is the black rectagular "domino" on the top/front/passenger corner of the intake manifold. It's right under the shock tower brace, with the green connector on it in the picture below.

I think its possible you pulled the data off the scanner, or got a freeze frame that was actually not at WOT. You need to verify that. Get it to the point where you can take it out on the road and put your foot on the floor, and hold it there for several seconds. In the middle of that period, read the MAP voltage. It should be in the range of 4.5-4.9V at WOT.

The MAP sensor is extremely critical in speed-density. The ECM needs it to calculate the "density" of the incoming air, so it can convert volume flow rate to mass flow rate and add the correct amount of fuel.

Re: here is my datalog. can anyone decipher it for me..

Hey Injuneer put in new tps, and map sensors today.
here are some new readings, found out how to read the datalogger in steps.

map sensor went up to 4.52 volts at 3575 rpm's.throttle sensor 3.21 volts and around 35' of spark advance. 87% throttle angle, ccp purge on, learn control disabled, manifold air temp 54.8', left 02=897,right 02=910mv,left block and right block value=128,block learn cell 15,ccp duty cycle 21.0%,idle air motor pos. 78steps, tcc not locked, ccp purge on, learn control disabled.

wot at 5650 rpm's coming out of second into 3rd. automatic trans.
map sensor=4.41 volts, throttle sensor 3.58 volts, manif. air temp=52.8',
left 02=924,right 02=932, left/right block learn=128, blk lrn cell=15,left/right value=128, ccp duty cycle=21.0%,spark adv. 36%, no knock,throttle angle=99%,egr duty cycle=0%, learned idle pos=30steps, tcc not locked,ccp purge on,learn control disabled.

spark adv. did get to 43' at 2450 rpm's was coming down on rpms.

ccp duty cycle did get to 23.4% at 2225 rpms .

right/left integrator did go to 148 at 2575rpms and dropping.

block learn cell went from 18 at 2450 rpms down to 3 at 2150 rpms when I was climbing rpms'.

Hey Injuneer if you see anything else out of the ordinary let me know.I will try to straighten them out also..thanks..Lonnie
