some questions about my datamaster logs

OK, i logged my car before my header install, after my install with open headers, and after with the true dual system. I was hoping someone could help me decipher some of this stuff.

Here are some interesting points on the graph that I dont understand, I mean about why I am getting spark retard.

First, before the headers, no mods at all.

TPS% = 100
RPM = 4750
Retard = 10.9
Coolant Temp = 190.9
INJ DC = 100.4%
BLMs = 128
Speed = 65

Second, after header install with true duals

TPS% = 100
RPM = 4425
Retard = 8.5
Coolant Temp = 193.6
INJ DC = 90.5%
BLMs = 128
Speed = 66

Any interpretation would be appreciated as I dont know what to make of these numbers and dont understand why, at the same basic speed and RPM, with the same coolant temp. I get less retard with the headers and duals than I did with the stock setup. And on top of that, is 10 deg or even 8 deg of retard a lot.

Also, if I am getting these kind of numbers on my logs, and I am still pulling 13.7 stock and 13.6 with the headers, what can I expect when I get the knock down to 0.

Thanks

Paul

Log snapshots are not as easy to decipher and sometimes don't mean a lot (out of context), but it is not uncommon to see KR at the RPMs you show. Are you running an LT4 knock module?

By looking at your Injector Duty Cycle it might be going lean which would cause knock and retard the timing.

What mods do you have? You shouldn't be maxing out the injectors stock.

I'm not running the LT4 KM. I was looking at the data today to try to determine if I needed one. What do you think?

Try hosting the whole log files somewhere for us.

The "duty cycle" numbers appear to indicate a problem... but I see this sort of thing all the time with DataMaster, and the duty cycle numbers don't make any sense at all. Based on the info in the signature, this is a relatively stock engine with long tubes. There is no way that engine could max out the stock injectors, which is what the 100+% duty cycle indicates.

I've mentioned to several people that they need to go back to TTS and ask why DataMaster gives these screwy results, but no one has done it yet.

As far as the 10deg retard vs. 8deg retard.... not surprising you would see a couple of degrees difference... what was the IAT for both runs? High inlet air temps, high coolant temps, a batch of not-quite-so-high octrane fuel (93 octane is not always EXACTLY 93 octane), air density, etc will all affect knock levels.

You need to post the logs online, in ".csv" format, so people who don't have DataMaster can look at them. I know people send me a lot of data logs, but I won't even open them any more becasue of virus problems.

Thanks injuneer, I will try to get the files hosted for you guys soon.

I was thinking exactly what you were, how the heck am I maxing out stock injectors already.

You can email them to me, that is fine. Sorry I can't host them though.

Datamaster also records injector pulse widths in msec and I have a calculator on my website. Although not sure if datamaster records that properly or not try it and see if numbers match or not.
