have i fried my pcm

i was in the middle of uploading a tune on my car and a damn virus scan or something overrode it and now my car wont crank at all and it says cant find a pcm or cant connect with the pcm or something

Isn't the very first order of business to disable all virus programs, screen saver and anything that might run while programming?
