FAST Group buy

I know that there is an Accel DFI GP ongoing but I have concluded that I would prefer the FAST system.

I'm not in any rush and am hoping to see if there are some folks who need to buy a FAST in the next few months and see if I can get a deal.

As far as I know, there are no FAST dealers as registered vendors. I hope that this does not violate any rules.

Well i am glad to see that you would prefer the FAST over Accel!

If you dont mind me asking what are some likes vs. dislikes from the Accel system?

The only way you can purchase a FAST system is through a distributor. The reason this is because if a customer (you) has a problem with an install, or tuning the distributors are there to help. The distributors are knowledgable, and very willing to help in any way they can. But this shouldnt be a problem as far as "group purchases" go.

Well Kevin, I have based my decision on the references of a number of people. In fact of the 4 - 5 that I had contacted, they all recommened FAST. Two of those contacts were distributers for both products.

I know that Accel is also a good product, but I have been advised that FAST is easier to use and given that I'm a complete ROOKIE at this, easier is good.

In addition, the local perfromance fraternity seems to be usuing FAST mostly so if I need local help, then there are people here. My neighbour is running a 8.03 Mustang with FAST so I can go to him.

What I would like to do is try and get a number of guys together and to make a bulk buy to save a little money.

I'm not in a rush as the car will be in the garage for the next 6 months.

I should also add that YOUR presence on the board was a contributing factor. I presummed that you would be able to assist should the need arise.

Great! Yes there is alot to be said about local help, and support!
Well that sounds like it would work out best for you then.

As far as online help here on the board, of course i can help out as much as possible, whenever i can. Truth be known i am more of a hardware/software "nerd" than i am a tuner. But being an
ex Hypertech employee i have spent some time on the dyno. And after all i am a F-Body guy!
You guys take it easy i am heading out of town for the weekend!

Shaun,

I don't know who you've been in contact with, but I did pay significantly less for mine. When I bought it, it was B2B w/ Wideband.

Shoot me an email if you want some help goin in the right direction.

Good luck!

If you are considering an aftermarket ECU I think you need to look at the Electromotive TEC3. It is two generations ahead of the FAST system and the ACCEL Gen VII is sort of vaporware - even though they have been advertising them for at least a year, no one has one yet, it seems. Something that new, with that long a gestation period, should be approached cautiously. I like the multiple coils of the TEC3 as well.

Unfortunately, none of these eliminates the Opti, a more exotic solution is needed for that. OTOH, the stock PCM can be made to run some pretty exotic combos, with some add-ons as needed. My own setup using both a blower and nitrous is still running on a stock PCM, reprogrammed, of course.

Just curious, what do plan on that you need the FAST system?

you can see imy combo t in my sig Rick.

I'M JUST NOT VERY STRONG WITH THE TUNING SIDE WITH eDIT AND THE BUILT IN o2'S WOULD MAKE ME FEEL A LOT SAFER. I have been running with edit for 2 years and have sufferred from detonation and running lean.

I have to rely on other people A LOT to help me and I have to now take responsbility for tuning this myself and I hear the FAST is easier to use.

I REALLY liked the look of the Electromotive as well with the coils and all, but it was $2700 and did not have wideband; O2's built in at the time.

i was able to pick up a new FAST with a harness, cable and O2 sensor for $1850.

In addition to all that, my neighbour three houses away is running an 8.00 sec Rustang with FAST so I'm sure he will be able to help at times.

I didn't realize that the FAST was so much less $$$. There's nothing worng with it, just that it's less capable than the TEC3. Sounds like you have a good plan.

>If your interested in the F.A.S.T. then contact Dean77 in the N.E. section or www.nedyno.com I believe that he is a distributor for them and he owns a dyno shop here in Massachusetts . Dean also helped 1st and goal (another member) do away with the Opti and go to a LS1 style ignition (1 coil per cylinder) .
