That code sets when the PCM detects an incorrect voltage on the knock SENSOR circuit. Pull the harness wire off the knock sensor. Check the voltage from the single wire in the harness to the block (key on). Should read 5V. With the harness wire still off the sensor, check the resistance between the single pin on the knock sensor, and the block. Should read 4,500ohm +/-1,000 ohms. Reconnect the harness connector, and probe the voltage from the connector wire to the block, should read in the range of 1.5-3.5V. If any of these tests are outside the range, you have found your problem.

Switching to an LT4 knock SENSOR was a mistake, since the LT4 is essentially the same sensor used in the OBD-II 96/97 LT1 F-Bodys, and has an impedance of 100Kohm, which will definitely set DTC 43, since its outside the range of 3,500-5,500ohms spec'd for the OBD-I knock sensor.
