diagnostic tool info

code extracting 1996 and newer gm. old code reader will not work. what do you recemend. tks. rp.

If all you want to do is pull the diagnostic codes, you can get an OBD-II code reader from Harbor Freight for $40. If you want something more than that, there is an extensive range of hardware and software OBD-II scanners, ranging from $100 to several thousand dollars.

Not knowing what your "old code reader" was, its hard to comment on why it won't work. Was it an OBD-II unit?
