dfi units

how do the different dfi units operate?

the accel and the fast dfi's seem to be the most popular two here. someone mentioned to me they don't use a maf or map sensor...
are they a completely programed operation for race only? what kind of sensor inputs do they use?

They do not use MAF sensors. Typically, the main inputs are MAP, TPS, and RPM. Most units also can be run in closed loop, in which case input from O2 sensors is used. Wide band O2's are also an option. IAT and coolant temp inputs are also used.
