I've never heard of anyone here using AS&M for tuning. Are you looking for some place you can take your car and have it tuned on a dyno, or are you looking for a "mail order" tune?

There's at least two mail order tuners right here on the board that are reliable:

Ion/Madwolf

pcmforless

And possibly:

Ed Wright/FastChips

I'm really not sure what you are after.....

A "mail order" tune involves filling out a questionaire and sending it, along with your PCM to one of the people I listed above. They program your PCM based on the data you gave them regarding mods, and they send it back to you. You put it in the car. They will "update" your program for a small additional fee, if you make future mod changes. You can not change anything yourself.

At least one of the "mail order" tuners listed above will also do the programming WITHOUT your PCM, send the file to you, and you use a cable and some software to download it to your PCM. You can just download, not change anything.

Then there is "tuning software" that allows you, using the software, a laptop and a proprietary cable to go into your PCM and do your own tuning. Examples of this are LT1_Edit (OBD-I and -II) and TunerCat (OBD-I).

I would consider switching to an OBD1 PCM if you want to tune it youself. You can buy any 94 or 95 V8 F-body PCM and change the knock sensor or modify the PCM to use your sensor, buy Tunercat and do it. I like Tunercat much better than LT1 edit, and it costs less. The datalogging is cheaper for OBD1 also.
