computer guys...I need help
this may be a stupid problem but Im not sure how to get around it. I have purchased a cable to communicate to my 95 trans am the obd1 obd2 cable. i have windows 7 when I plug it in it automatically installs on com 12. I have another cable elm327 that is installed on com 11. Well I have a tune for my car that I need to be able to upload but the software needs to see the cable on com 1-8....first problem...I tried to change it and it sais that com 3-11 in use and 1 2 12+ open. I just changed the com settings to 2 it changed but then I could not see the cable in tuner cat or data master....i have tried to use datamaster a bunch and everytime I try to connect it sais com lost. But it will pull the vin out of the car...and on the self test it sais it detects a pcm so I dont know what to do but I have a madz28 tune to upload and I can not seem to figure out how to make it work.....Thanks

Re: computer guys...I need help
I think the device should occupy the lowest number COM port that's available. Ports may be reserved for other/old devices.
Go to http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Utilities.htm and try the VPClean utility, it frees up com ports.
Also you are using the FTDI VCP (Virtual COM Port) driver right? (from same site, may need to reinstall after VPClean)
