Question Computer Codes not displayed

I have a 94 Z that when I plug a computer reader to the port, the car is supposed to read out codes through the light on the dash. There is some sort of begining code that it is always supposed to give you prior to any trouble codes. The light on my dash just flashes on, off, on, off, on, off.....Never producing codes. Does this mean that there is a power chip or something? Please help.

Try calling tech support for the company that makes it.

You cannot flash codes through the SES on an f-body past a 1993. You need a real scan tool. BTW, that tool is nothing more than what a paper clip can do.

As Shoebox said this does NOT work on 94s, I bought one also long ago and heard that it worked on some early 94s but I do not know that to be true. It did NOT work for me at all, had to buy a cable + freescan (free).

Where do I get the software (free) and where do I find the cable?

www.wotelectronics.com is one place to get the cable, or http://www.akmcables.com/ You will also find a link to FREESCAN I believe in Andrew's (AKMcables.com) LINKS or TOOLS section (forget exactly).

Cable is around $65 when I got it, overall to do your own troubleshooting/logging its priceless!
