code 42-Ign system problem elec spark timing (EST) is grounded.
code 73-Transmission force motor current problem.

Re: Codes question

From Shoebox's LT1 OBD-I code list:

DTC 36 = Distributor ignition system (faulty high resolution pulse or extra low resolution pulse detected) - Yes, this is the Opti. The engine will run OK with this problem, because the PCM can default to using the low resolution pulse. You will just lose a little timing accuracy.

DTC 42 = Ignition Control (IC) circuit (shorted or grounded circuit) - This is a fairly complex problem to diagnose, relating to the Opti, the IC Module, the coil and the signal from the PCM. I believe Shoebox has the diagnostic logic tree on his Tech Pages.

DTC 73 = Pressure Control Solenoid (PCS) circuit (current error) - Obviously the auto tranny
