code key

im new to this forum. looks like you guys know your stuff so i thought id join.

i have a 94 z28 and the check engine light comes on after about 10mins of it running. i pluged in the code key to watch the blinks of the check engine light but it never blinks. i never even get the code 12.

also Ive recently had problems with my vats system. can the performance shops usually program vats not to work? I think i have a bad pickup inside the lock cylinder.

Re: code key

'93 was the last year you could use that method. You'll need a code reader, scan tool, or software to pull any codes.

Re: code key

For the LT1, as noted in moparman's post above, 1993 was the last year you could flash the codes by shorting the ALDL pins. Will not work 94 and up, on the LT1.
