air temp sensor vs timing?
air temp sensor vs timing?
is there a table out there that says how much timing to take out vs your air temp sensor? i dont see one on tuner cat, and last time i talk to him he didnt know of one.
also i dont see one on lt1, but i have a rather old version.

Re: air temp sensor vs timing?
Does the computer take into consideration the IAT if you are not in Speed Density? I "broke" the iat wires tonight and it was showing -40* F on the logger, but it didnt run any different that it normally does. I use a MAF so that makes me believe that it only uses that sensor when the MAF malfs or if you are in speed density.
Re: air temp sensor vs timing?
I haven't run the stock PCM for many years now, but I thought there was some speculation a few years ago that there was a mysterious 3deg of advance that showed up in the timing advance value being set by the PCM (PCM indicated advance was 3deg higher than the value it was pulling out of the timing tables). There was some thought that this 3deg was added to timing when IAT was "normal", and somehow not added when IAT temps went very high. Getting a -40deg reading would not cause any change in that, if it is in fact the case. But getting IAT heat soak and having it indicate 140degF might affect the way the engine runs, if the speculation was correct.
Re: air temp sensor vs timing?
well the reason im trying to find it is i want to use it as a nitrous retard...
wire the temp sensor with a variable resitor, hook that to the arming switch.
