96 LT1 with 95 PCM. Issues?
Re: 96 LT1 with 95 PCM. Issues?
If the car has the 4L60E trans, it is not compatible with a 1995 PCM. Trans can be damaged.
4L60E year differences and interchanges.
The 95 PCM requires use of a 1993-1995 4,000 ohm knock sensor. Your 1996 engine has a 100,000 ohm knock sensor.
You will lose misfire detection, since the 1996 crank position sensor is not supported in OBD-1.
Life will be simpler because the after-cat O2 sensors can be deleted. Ditto with the EVAP system vacuum detection switch.
If you have an emission inspection that plugs into the DLC connector, it wont communicate because it’s OBD-1 and the scanning device is expecting OBD-2 data from a 1996 vehicle. May need rewiring of the DLC connection, as well.
