4L60E --> T56 conversion information

I'm new to here and am hoping to get a little infomation.

I have a 1969 Camaro with a LT1/LT4(The guy said it was from a 1994 Firebird but it has some LT4 parts like the intake and some other stuff).

The only prob I think I'm going to run into is the computer and other wiring issues.

What is the cheapest and easiest way to reprogram the computer to set it up for the T-56 from the automatic? I'm assuming the computer has to be changed for RPM's and shifting info, etc.....

Also, I'm looking to wire up the reverse lockout.

I read the post on the Pressure plates and found it very interesting that the pressure plates are all the same.

Please feel free to email me at spacedawg99@yahoo.com

Knew someone that did the change. As I remember, there was nothing to do. The tranny is now irrelevant. Even my M6 has programming for auto but there is just nothing going to and from the PCM for the auto tranny so it is irrelevant.

Your friend must have converted a 1993 model year because '94-02 F-bodies do have electronics running to and from the transmission (both A4 and M6). Regardless, even if he converted a 1993 model year, your friend still would have needed a tune to compensate for the speedometer.

A good place to reference for doing an M6 conversion is the following link:

This is what I used and found it very helpful. Although not all of the information will pertain to you, some of it will be helpful. I would also recommend someone like Ion or PCMforless to update your pcm for a manual car.

You may also find some help on the "Drivetrain" forum.... there have been a number of posts regarding the 4L60E->T56 conversion. Its simply a matter of having the PCM reflashed as an M6 and attaching (or bypassing) the correct wires for the clutch safety switch, skip shift solenoid and reverse lockout solenoid.
