temp question

ok well i just installed a cam, lifts, springs, intake, carb.

well my question is the temp, when my car stock the temp wouldn't really read unless it was really hot out...

would read around 100 to 150.

but now with the big cam and what not, it reads anywhere from 180 to 200.... is it normal now cuz i have a wilder cam and what not...

whats normal temps and what would be the max....

btw im running a 195* stat

If your running a 195 stat then your car will warm up to that temperature. Once it reaches 195 the thermostat will open and let the radiator cooled water in. Put a 180 in and try that.

You just need it tuned up. Your heating up could also be a lean runnimg condition. Check your mixture screws, float levels and timing.

All cars are stupid

Nate, I thought you put a new Tstat in?? That would explain the difference. Your ride home was my fault.... I said "its not great but it will get you home". COuldnt have jinxed ya better if I had tried .

with the 195 stat, it sounds like it's running right where it should. You could probably go as low as 180 and then take the opportunity to replace that ugly orange water neck with a chrome one, or at least paint it with aluminum coloured paint
