Sorry for such a stupid question...But where exactly is the voltage regulator for the 70-73 camaro engines...Or did they even have any?

I haven't futzed around on an old Camaro for a while but the regulator on my friend's 72 Chevelle (worked on last month) was mounted up on the radiator support behind the driver's side headlights. Square black box with a buncha wires attached to it.

On my 72 it was located on the radiator support on the driver side in the engine compartment. It is about 2" square in sizes and it has three bolts holding it on the side of the support. Hope this helps.

Exclamation

It SHOULD be on the INTERNALLY REGULATED alternator.

How many wires do you have ? One under a rubber boot, and 2 on a pluf that fits in the side of the rear, correct ???

If you NEEDED an ext regulator, then it'd be on the firewall, and the alt would have 2 sets of plugs (2 wires each) attached.

Camaros built after February 73 have an internal voltage regulator. Prior to this they were external (on the radiator core support).
