Harmonic Balancer Does Not Fit!
So anyways I finnaly go to put my new fluiddampr balancer on and yeah as the description says it wont go on. The bore is either to tight or I am doing something wrong, but the original balancer fits on there fine and I got the only balancer they had for small block chevys internally balanced. Anyone have problems with their product b4? My warranty already expired... so unless there is something I can to get it to turn farther (smoothly as they say in the instructions).. ive gotta go rent the tool to take it off again and find a different balancer
anyone have an idea?
It started to go on smoothly but right as the edge of the bore started to go past the timing cover hole it just got all jerky , I went a little farther and it felt like it stopped spinning, when I removed the tool it didnt have any metal on it and the bolt was not stripped, thank god and it can still turn but I do not want to put that much pressure on it. So yeah, anyone have an idea, I'd hate to be out $200+ but w/e it takes to get this damn thing to run, ive already had to many problems with parts that are supposed to work and dont. Thx to anyone who knows anything

Many of the aftermarket balancers have this issue. They need to be honed to fit. They seem to put them on the tight side for sure. I bought a very expensive ATI dampner and had the same problem.

But im gonna go get that done, someone said it should be like $25 bucks and thats better than using the old crapped out balancer. Thx again for the reply
This is supposed to be a tight fit. Did you check the crank snout and make sure it was clean and deburred? Did you install the keyway properly? Was it clean and deburred and without defect, like flattening it by installing it with a hammer.
If all is ok, one simple thing you can try before honing it, is to heat it in the oven to around 100 to 150 degrees. You must work fast when installing it because it will cool quickly.
