Re: XM Radio Help

From what i hear, you can put your antenna on the shock tower brace in the engine bay. This will only work if you have a fiberglass hood. I've not tried it myself, but i saw someone here had theirs there with no problem.

Also, it will work with your stock radio, as the xpress has a built in FM transmitter. This is a low power transmitter that transmits on a frequency you select. You tune your regular radio to this frequency to listen to the XM. not the best option, but usually sufficient enough for most people.

As for mounting options, it's up to you where you want to mount it, but the FM transmitter and you wanting to switch channels or looking at what you're listening to will be a gigantic PITA if you mount it out of sight.

good luck

Re: XM Radio Help

It's quite a bit of work but I put my antenna into the spoiler. I ran the wires in the factory boot so you can't see it at all. You would never know it was there.

I mounted the receiver under the drivers side rear panel.

Before I had the back window tinted I had the antenna in the back under the carpet. It worked perfectly there. However once the window was tinted there was no signal and I had to mover it.

Re: XM Radio Help

i have the stock ac delco system in my car. personally i think its a pile of crap. i mean it used to sound good, its a 6 speaker system, but the two that only put out the mids and lows, the one voice coil is blown and only works when it get back in contact with eachother. im not real big into stereo systems, and i like the stock look. how do i get regular speakers to only put out mids and lows like the stock ones? what brand and model should i use? my head deck sucks also, the lights in the buttons are blown and it drives me crazy. im just completely lost in this stuff now....i used to be into it, but now i like going fast lol. i would like to get this xm radio in and have a decent alittle louder than stock stereo. thanks for any help

Re: XM Radio Help

i put my XM radio antennae at the very front of the dash.. that whole peice slides off and i just ran the wire underneath it and now its sitting front and center all the way in the front of the dash under teh windsheild... works pretty well too.

i would say put the XM in the pocket under the stereo if you can... i agree its ugly to have moutned there (i have the tuner that plugs in the back of my alpine stereo) but you will be channel surfing so much you HAVE to have it where you can see it and change channels easily.
