what kinda of speakers to buy?

hey guys, i have a 95 camaro with the 4 6.5' speaker setup.. I also have 2 12' kenwood subs and an 800w amp. I also have speaker saver caps on all 4 of my speakers.. Recently my back speaker blew so I need to replace the backs so I'm going to replace them all.. I don't know if I should get 2 or 3 channels etc.. what would be the best for them? I mostly listen to rap and rock if that will help.. I was thinking maybe 3 ways in the back and 2 in the front? Help me out here..thanks

wait wait wait, are you looking to replace your amp?

What i would do, if you're going to replace everything, is to get a good 2-channel amp, and a good reciever (200-250W). Those subs need that 2 channel, but you could also run a seperate smaller 4 channel to keep those 6.5s running loud.

Re: what kinda of speakers to buy?

i only want to replace my 4 factory 6.5's .. i allready have a new head unit, and the subs are hooked up and work..the subs are hooked up to a 2 channel 800watt amp. i just need recommendations as to what kinda 6.5's.. i'm not sure if i'm really going to want to replace the factory amp right now because money is a lil tight, but i most likely will in the near future so any ideas are helpful..thanks

I run Rockford Fosgates in my Z and am quite a fan of them.

Re: what kinda of speakers to buy?

If you are looking for brands... the best way I've found is to just go travel to all the car audio shops you can and listen to the speakers.

Anyone can make recommendations, but I've found that everyones ears are different and everyone likes something a little different. For example I think Focal's are a little harsh on my ears, I don't really like how they sound, but people I know absolutly love them and they way they sound.

But not to leave you with nothing.... For decent pricing and quality:

Infinity's both Resonance and Kappa Series
CDT
Pioneers are decent
Rockfords are decent
Kicker
Focal
MB Quart
Adire Audio
Resonant Engineering
Elemental Designs

The last 3 are a little obscure and I doubt you'll find any place locally that sells them, but they are unbelieveable products for great prices.

the rear speakers are rear fill only, no need to go 3 or 4 way speakers back there. 2 way would be fine.
As far as the front, you can not beat components. Coaxials are ok, but the woofer part tends to kill the tweeter in the middle.
