What do thing of this set up????
What do you think of this set up????
I am in the process of finsihing up my system and would like to get opinions. I already have 6.5 two ways for all 4 main speakers. What I was going to add is a Kicker 5-channel 700.5 amp (was thinking about 3-channel 550.but thought I would be running it to hard) and that would runn the main speakers. For the sub I was going to get the 10" Rockford HE2 in a Sumbthump driverside stealth box. Anybody running a similar setup and how hard do you think it will hit. I was hoping to run the sub part of the amp at 2 ohms to get the most out of it. I don't need super loud since I only drive the car about 3000 miles a year, just something that sounds good and is loud enough to hide the exhaust.

thats kind of what im doing......I currently have MB quart 6.5s in the rear and want to get MB quart components in the front......Running a Rockford HX2 Power 10 in a passenger side stealth......im waiting on a subthump amp rack and my rockford 1000bd amp for the sub.....and am going to get a rockford 500s i think for the speaks.........itll sound good i think
Is this a good componet set up? Really intrested to hear feed back on rockford fogate HE2 subs and if this kicker amp is any good??? I am only going to run one amp since I want to keep it simple.
Sounds like your heading in the right direction. I own the HX2's and their pretty damn good. Too bad I bought them when they first came out....paid too much for em'
But you can pick em' up pretty cheap now. You'll be happy with the 700.5. It does it's rated power + a couple of watts extra. So you'll want them dual 4 ohm version of the HE2. Remember that.

Yes, you will wire the voice coils in parallel to present your amp with a 2 ohm load. A lot of people want more power. In which case, a 5-channel amp is out of the question. Many don't output more then 40 or 50WRMSx4@4ohms. And only 300-400WRMSx1@2ohms for the subwoofer. Not much power for a pair of 12"s. That's why people decide to go with two seperate amps. Say, a 4-channel that does 100WRMSx4@4ohms and a subamp that does 800WRMSx1@2ohms.

I think the 700.5 will be enough power for how much I plan on using it. I just hope that I am not overworking it.
