want a good 10" that doesnt need alot of space.
In the dash? Man, where?
Look at the mounting depths of the average 10" sub. Go to any manufacturers website and look them up. No 10" sub will fit in your dash.
And if it did fit, it would make driving rather unpleasant. If you want to go custom, try fiding a way to put them in the rear speaker placements. Not the 6x9 location, the 6.5" location. Try and squeeze some 8"'s in there.

to start out with i have some 6.5 free airs already for the 6.5 location and what im doing is removing the air bag and glove and am going to put a 8 or a 10 there. obviously theres not room you have to make it and thats exactly what i plan on. It can be done i mean look at this 240sx http://www.concertcar.com after seeing that you think he put that sub there for poor quality. i think not. i know someone that has alot of experince in custom sound and i have proffesional experience as a audio installer, and autobody(fiberglass, painting, ect). It wil be a small project but thats about it. you should see my big project its an absolute shell
sorry but im not sure what a IDQ is and ill check that out but what i think i might do to maximize the space i have is im now thinken a 10inch solo7 i think ill actually have enough room for more air space than i though after i make a slight mod to the air ducts and ill for sure get some pics of it for sure.
You're in for quite the custom job
You really have two choices here. Free air, or sealed. I would think that going sealed would be your best bet.
Something interesting I've seen was a perfectly round enclosure. What they did was lay fiberglass over a beach ball, pop the ball, cut a hole to fit 1 10" sub, and then finish it. It was simple, and proved to have better accoustic qualities than a traditional cube box. So anything can be done.
This is definetly interesting though. I would say that you should start by finding out how much volume you have to work with. Take your dash apart, and see how easily you could cut away and rearrange things so that you could maximize the amount of space dedicated to your box.
How will the sub fire? Down towards the passengers feet, or into their face? Or up at the windshield? Or have you changed your mind about the pass side airbag and glove box, and decided to go with a central mounted sub?

wel i actually have 2 TA one is a complete shell the other is my daily driver so it just so happens that i havea spare dash in my room right now. in all honest i have no clue as to what that actual amount of space i have is but, i figured that if i remove the air bag, probally going to hack into the air duct and completly remove the passenger side vent but modify the defrost fent from the a pillar, then on the right side of the glove theres a computer which im guessing is airbag related due to the wires im going to reposition that and theres a nice amount of space right there also. also i may cut the space between the glove and the airbag out also by then i shuold have plenty or room i think. so i think this will turn out to be a fun project besides the rest of the projects i have going on. As far as the use of the brahma or L7 or i was just looking at the image dynamics i don tthink im gign to totally make up my mind yet i think im sortof get a better idea of how much room i have because i think i actually might have enough room for most subs. Then im having a guy who does competions help me he's ogin to come over sat and im going to get his opinion and how i should fire the sub and all but i think its going to fire up.
I guess it all depends on the Budget and the goal of the system, IMO the SQ of the L7 isn't that great, the IDQ and the Brahma are WAY better. I will give the L7 its props where they are due, they can get loud... but so can the Brahma and IDQ. The Brahma is a lot more expensive than either of the other two, but it is an incredible sub. there are few subs on the planet that can play as clean, and given proper power and enclosure they can get quite loud...

The IDQ is a great sounding budget sub, that is designed for very small spaces. I really shouldn't call it budget, but they can be found quite inexpensive on the net.

i dont want to say cost isnt a issue but none of the subs metioned seem to expensive i am still highly considering a brahma being that it sounds like its one of the best. The only reason i think about the l7 is because it will be like having a 12 in the spot of a 10. but if im going to loose alot of quality i dont want that either i need to be able to really feel it but be quality or as best of a compramize as i can get. id love to hear that sub brahma but i live in lakeville 20mins south of the citie. Although i will be in st. cloud a couple times next week how far is that from fargo?? i may be able to take a little time and head a little further out that way.
darn that sorof sux but whatever il have to see if anyone around sells those which i doubt. also i was wandering whats the outside dimetions of that sub i tried to check it out on adires' site last night and it was down so im goign to check it out again but if your could measure outside diameter for me that would be sweet.
