system info
Okay, so heres the deal. i am buying a small car (cavalier or sunfire) within the next few months. and i am buying a clarion VRX765VD head unit (google that and tell me what ya think). but anyways it will play movies and i was wondering if anybody knows how i could set up a nice surround setup in there. i am buying a system, but i was just kinda curious if there is a way to setup surround sound. also i was wondering if anyone had some input on good speakers and subs and amps. i am wanting to run a amp to the speakers to clearify them. i am wanting to spend roughly 1500 or so. less would be nice, but if not its cool. but the clarion headunit is 700
Re: system info
not 100% sure as i usually dont install clarions.. BUT to actually use the 5.1 surround sound i think you will have to buy the decoder 5.1 "module" or box.. whatever you want to call it.. and its not cheap. then you will have to install a center channel on the car.
id just install the stereo and then have a simple front left and front right channel it wont be as "cool" but itll sound great.
also with the budget it can be kinda hard to get the true surround effect.
as for a car id actually reccomend a geo metro.. if you are looking at a small car. dont remember the years but im sure they come with 6.5" speakers all the way around and are very small cars so whatever you put in them wil sound great.
you can do a simple set of 6.5" components up front ($200)
the in dash dvd player $700
a 4channel amp $250-300
and some subs prolly run you another 400 for two subs and a box.
throw in around another $50-100 for the wiring kit
this is a very simple set up and should sound great in most small hatchback type cars. i just threw out the geo metro as an example.. thats what i would get if i wanted a small economy car to have a nice system in.
