Thats great news Claude. The Type-S is a great bang for the buck subwoofer IMO. I'm very happy with mine.

Update...

It has been almost a week and I have played the sub/stereo a lot in my car and I can honestly say that the Sub is getting better...I am not sure if its better than the JL I had before but it sure is freaking good....I cant belive how well it sounds in the MTX stealth box, ESPECIALLY for the price!

Thx,
Claude

I sub will sound better after it's broken in. I don't know why people like JL's so much. They are mediocre and very inadequate for my tastes. The Kicker solobaric L7 is awesome. I realize it's a lot more money but worth every penny to me. Works incredibly well even with a 1 cu ft box or less. You only need one 10" and about 400 watts to produce rediculous low tones.

IMO the Solo is outclassed by a lot of subs in its price range. The Solo does alright in SPL, but I have yet to hear one that sounds as good as i am used to. For the same cost you can get an ID Max or Adire Brahma and have a sub that actually sounds good.

When the round Solos first hit the market I thought they were outstanding subs. These new square solos only do BOOM IMO and boom isn't what I look for in a subwoofer.

Interesting. I'm not looking for boom necessarily but I do want accurate sound reproduction all the way down as low as I can hear. If not then you are missing some of the sound and not getting an accurate reproduction of sound. It would be like playing a song and removing the vocals or removing the drum's high hat symbol. You'd be missing part of the song. Who wants that? Another thing is you should be able to feel certain frequencies. If you are at a concert you can feel it right? If you want to get crazy you can also get quite a nice full body massage with the right CD. It's not really focussed on accurate sound reproduction but it is fun.

With all the new stuff out I can't really confirm or deny the price point argument here. Are there as good or better out there? I believe so. Why do I choose Kicker? They've been around for a long time and honor their warranties. They are also readily available and perform well in an incredibly small space. They were also the first to really master the concept IMO.

Another great sub for the money is the ED 10K. ED is changing their whole line-up, but they have the 10K on clearance right now for $100. http://www.edesignaudio.com/overstock.htm That sub is awesome! I have it and I couldn't be happier with it. The bass is very accurate, especially in the subthump box I have for it. I highly recommend it.
