speaker wire question

speaker wire question

i searched with no luck. i have a 1996 camaro with stock bose 5 speaker system.. ok now does anyone know which wires in the rear (next to rear seats) are postive and negative??

Look at the connectors to see if the wires are labeled A & B. If they are, wire B is the positive wire.

If that doesn't work do the battery pop test. All you do is connect a battery to the speaker's input to see which way the cone jumps. If it jumps out toward you look to see which connector is connected to the + of the battery. That will be your speaker's + lead. If the cone pulls inward then you have the battery backwards and the - of the battery is connected to the + of the speaker.

Only connect the battery for an instant to make the cone pop. You don't want to leave the battery connected to the speaker's voice coil for an extended amount of time or you could damage it.

One of the wires should have a white stripe down it, the other should be solid. The one with the white stripe is negative.
