Which SETUP to pick???
Hey, I need some help from the experts for a sub setup. I just some nice bass to back up the stock S$*T Monsoon. I am looking at three options so feel free to tell me the best.
1) Millhouse box with 1 12"
2) Millhouse box with 2 10's
3) Subthump passenger side box with 1 12"
Would 2 10's or 1 12' sound better. I am going for quality not "break my windows" bass, but I still want to be heard and my mirrors to shake
I am looking at the Alpine Type R's, and JL Audio subs. Or should I think about other subs? I need to stay below or around 150 per sub and around 200 or below for the amp. I was looking at the alpine MRD-M300 Amp. What amp would be good for each of these setups and would a certain 12 or 10's be better over others in the different setups? Please help thanks.

I can't help you much with your questions cause I've only just ordered stuff.
But here is what I'm going to try. I was thinking of the JL Audio stealth box, it is $400. But instead I'm going to try to make a fiberglass enclosure for the drivers side area in the back and use an Image Dynamics 12v.2 sub (this enclosure would be similar to what subthump makes). Reading other message boards these subs are supposed to be better than Alpine and JL. They also use a small enclosure .5-1.0 cubic feet. I ordered the sub for $135 from infiniteaudio.com. I'm going to drive it will a munti-channel PPI amp that I already own. I'm considering a PPI PC1250 or PC1500 or JL Audio 1/250 or 1/500 in the future. The PC1250 I think you can find for around $200.
I had a Kicker Comp VR 12 w/ a 200 Watt amp in a diff car and it was plenty loud enough to shake the truck, license plate, rear view mirror and annoy other people. I think 1 12 with enough power will be good enough.
My entire Monsoon system will be on e-bay soon... lol

Re: Anyone?
From my experiece I can say that the dual 10 milhouse is your best bet. Not that a single 12 can't be loud. But if done correctly, the two 10s will be louder and sound just as good. I would recommend the alpines because I think they hit a tad harder and work better with the space give. JMO

Megabass, since you make some of this stuff. Have you heard and ID 12 compared to JL or Alpine? I haven't, I ordered one cause of all the stuff I read about how great they were. I don't know if you read above, but I'm gonna try to make a fiberglass enclosure. I really just got the idea in my head and now I have to try it. I don't know what level of success I will have but I'm gonna give it a try,

No, I haven't listened to the ID before. From what I've heard they are an amazing SQ sub. Maybe not quite as much SPL as other subs, but better sounding. So if you can pull of the fiberglass box, it should make for a nice setup.

I havn't heard the ID before, but it is supposed to be similar to the IDQ V1, and personally the IDQ V2 is a HUGE step up.... i would go that route. Personally i like a single 12 over a pair of tens. they are close to the same SPL and honestly the single 12 might give you better low end response, AND it is cheaper than the pair of tens..... I have only owned two decent tens in my life (Brahma 10 and Alumapro Alchemy 10) and they were nice, but a 12 is a whole different ball game..... go for the single 12.

It depends on what kind of music you listen to. Actually you can make two tens kill the sound of a single 12 in both sound quality and quantity. I have 2 JL 10s and drive them with 2 PPI A600s and have done more SPL than guys that even run a single 15. Just depends on how much $$ you want to spend and what your musical tastes are. If you are low budget and like rap then go with the 12. On the other hand, If you want the best sound IMHO, go get some decent 10s and lots of power and shake those rear view mirrors.
just my .02

After screwing with how I was gonna make my own fiberglass enclosure I have determined that things are not cooperating as I had originally though. My success rate is likely to be low, frustration high, and time wasted huge. Worst thing I really don't feel like shelling out the bucks for the enclosure. Oh well Subthump.com here I come I kinda wanted to have this thing done for a car show next week also, but I'm not sure I can get the enclosure that quick.
