Angry Rear hatch sensor

I need to deactivate the latch sensor in the rear so the lights don't come on when the hatch is opened. The Q-Logic box i have fits fine in the t-top area, but the lights will not go off when it is back there. The hatch has no problem closing, but it won't register that it is closed even when it is firmly shut. Anyone know how to do that?

Answer from DrMilhouse

"The wire you'd need to cut to disable that notification that your hatch is open is:

orange/black and it's located in a blue plug at the BCM. The BCM is located in the passenger kick, just in front of the blower
motor.

This wire will show a ( - ) or ground connection when the hatch is open. To the best of my knowledge that wire is ONLY the sensor that tells the car that the hatch is open. It's one wire that show's negative when you open the hatch. If you're overly concerned, cut it in a place where you know you can splice it back together.

HTH"

This is complete Bull ****!!!
I tried it, and it f***ed up my alarm! You obviously DON'T HAVE the best knowledge. I spliced them back together and it works fine now. Look, sorry for being such a jerk, but I did ask for more info, and you were sure of what you said. You should try it next time.

Can anyone else, who really knows how to do this, tell me what I have to do??

2 things you can try.

1. locate the switch for the hatch, it's a little lever right beside the hatch. Try bending it up a bit on the end with a pair of pliers, carefull not to break it. This should make the lights go out when you close the hatch.

2. if that doesn't work then disconnect the ground wire for the switch, it should be right near the latch.

What problems did you have with your alarm when you cut this wire? would your door triggers not work?

There is a secondary switch in there somewhere. So, the levar idea won't work. Thanks though.

The doors were extremely loud when they locked, but the alarm would not arm.
