Radio wont turn OFF
Radio wont turn OFF
Well i came back to my truck today to find my radio blasting in my truck
Some how it turned on while the car was off. And now when you turn the car off instead of the radio shutting off it stays on. The only way to turn it off is with the power button on it. It is a pioneer BTW. Anyone every come accross this?
I just wanted to check before i start ripping it apart.

Take a visual inspection of the wiring behind the radio. See if the switch wire is getting 12v when the car is off (it shouldnt). Maybe you have a short to power, check to make sure there are no exposed wires (maybe rubbing aganist the constant wire, and yes I have seen that before) Did you use a harness when installing it? Oh, and btw, you shouldnt have to "rip" the radio out, with a set of Pioneer keys you should be able to "slide" it out
Let me know what you find.

LOL, what a pain in my ***. So i downloaded a manual online for the head unit, and found what wire is the 12+ and what is switched 12+. So everything looks fine, and strangely the previous owner actually soldered everything... nothing was undone or touching
So i cut the switched wire with the car on and the radio finally turns off. so i test the wire that is suppose to be switched and it shows 12v with the car turned off
so the radio has worked fine since i bought it, so what the wire changed itself from switched 12v to continuous 12v?
Well i found a switched wire in a harness nearby, spiced into that, and now it works fine.
ARGH

The radio is what sends power to the antenna.
This sounds like something that would happen on my old british MG!!! The electrics in those things would do weird stuff like this...and we'd always have to find new and inventive ways to hack it up like you did.
Of course...I think that little MG of mine was possessed....perhaps...
