Unhappy Problem with my Pioneer CD Player

I've got a Pioneer DEH-P6000 car cd player... and I've got a problem.. just wanted to post it and see if anybody has any ideas or leads to what I could do.

There's a button to push that flips the face down, and a button on the opposite side of the face to eject the CD. Well.. when the face flips down, the connectors from the faceplate to the actual deck disconnect, and it loses power. I can't eject the CD!! And it's a terrible Offspring CD!!!

I was thinking about calling Pioneer's customer service line, but I'd rather fix the problem myself since I think it's not under warranty anymore.

Anybody ever had a similar problem? What should I do?

Haha.. I've had the same proble with my pioneer P1R for over a year... I know the newest Bad Religion CD like the back of my hand. I've been too lazy to tear the thing apart to fix it. Lucky I bought the adapter to use the rca aux input into the CD Changer controller so i can use my portable MP3 player for a change of music.

haha! i thought i was the only one with that problem! I've got a pioneer dehp7000r. I have taken the the nearly all of the away apart and back together again, and it still loses power when you lower the face to eject a cd. I cannot figure out where the problem is. I have been using the head of a screw in order to push the button to eject without losing power. if anyone else figures out the problem let me know. thanks.

your issue is the main power wire ribbon that goes to the faceplate. It might need to be replaced or to run tape down it cuz its either shorting to the bar that runs threw for the tilt mechanism or its shorting by not making contact when you open the face.

In my experience, Pioneers are JUNK! Yes, they sound good, but they always friggin break. At work I get more Pioneers coming back for service than any other brand (not even Jensen or JVC come back as much!) Personally im a Kenwood man

most people i know go 3-6 years before major trouble so I dont know what your talking about. How old are the ones coming in. Also think that most people like me are Die-hard Pioneer fans and wanna get them fixed being as we like them. Most people with Jensen and Sony just throw that **** out the window when it breaks. Ive seen somebody do it with a Sony. Right out into the weeds! I had to have my P1R fixed after i burnt out the amp on and the cd stopped ejecting after 5 years! Thats great! Most of us dont even keep our cars that long much less a radio.

I see new and old Pioneers come in all the time. Some last longer than others, but out of any brand we carry, Pioneers come back with problems the most. The only pioneer product that I am a fan of are the 4-way 6x9s and the MEX-5DI head unit (but that retails for around $1,000 so thats out of the question)

i just finished working on mine a few minutes ago. The problem was that their was a crease in the ribbon cable that caused a few of the wires within the ribbon to break. I am planning on ordering another ribbon (somehow ) . But anyway, for now I have used electric tape to hold it together better. I haven't hooked it back up yet, but hopefully it will work out.

As for Pioneer CD players... I have always liked mine (thats why I want to fix it instead of replace it) I have had it since 1999 and it has been in all three of the cars that I have owned. They just seem easy to use (compared to my bros sony).
