Subthump.
Just how far North in Minnesota are you? I know a pretty good place in Eagan to get this junk installed, and the guys are pretty learned on the subject of car audio.
For a ton of info about car audio that's just a click away, try Crutchfield.

Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
Hour north of duluth. My cousin can install everything. He just put in a deck and subs in his car. I will be getting a box from subthump. probably the truck one. Is dual 12's too much bass for our cars? I want really good thump so me and my friends can "bump". Good rhyme
. Just wondering what a good head unit is that is pretty cool looking, what subs most of you are using and what a good amp is.

Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
Was looking around and really like the Pioneer DEH-P9600MP. What do you think of that deck? What subs/ how many to go with. Preferably two. Looks better in the back IMO. Wont bet going stelth box, truck box i will use. What subs, what size for great thump and what amp to go with it.
Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
I don't have too much experience on this subject, but the headunit is pretty good, most people here seem to power their speakers with another amp, so the headunit doesn't have to do all that much.
If you're just going with some subs and an amp, you'll probably want a class-d mono amp. They work best for just subs. If you're going to use two subs, I'd say get 2 12-inchers. What have I heard recommended before? Kicker, Punch, Rockford Fosgate. I personally have an Audiobahn that works great.

Sounds like I want dual 12". Now what number of Watts should I be looking for with the subs and what size amp to go with them? Thanks. Also, what channel amp is recommended?
Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
Any help on choice of subs and amp would be great. I dont know much about them. List the subs and amp that you would use together. I like bass
Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
You're quickly getting out of my league, but I'd probably get something like this. It appears to be a pretty good deal when you get two.
As for the amp, you're on your own. I know about hooking one sub up to a mono amp, but I don't know if you can hook up 2 subs to a mono amp (hence the name mono). You'll have to wait until someone clarifies. I can say that you'll want an amp that can give about 400 watts to each of those subs.
edit. Yeah, you'll need a 4-channel amp to power two subs. This amp would be a perfect fit with the two subs I suggested above. If you thought the subs were cheap, wait until you get a load of this amp. I'll see if I can't find a better deal on the net.

Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
I will most likely search on ebay for the same subs and amp and find a good deal. Thanks for all your help. Where can I find a box for our cars that will fix a square sub?
Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
woah now....you can run both your subs with a mono amp....you just have to wire the subs in series...if you're just gonna be powering subs with your amp, the best/most inexpensive route will be either a beefy mono amp, or a beefy 2-channel you can bridge...you do sorta have to be careful and make sure that both your subs and your amp will be stable running at the ohms that you're wiring configuration will generate...if this is over your head a lil bit, just spend some time researching it and get familiar with it before you start ordering your shiz...
Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
Its over my head but here is what my buddy told me. I want 2 Kicker 12" 600 watt subs. So then he told me the amp I would need would be a 1200 watt multi channel amp. Is he right?
Do this for me. I know the subs I want. 2 Kicker 12" 600 watt subs. Get me a link to an amp that will put all the potential out of the subs. want it to hit hard. Thanks
Here is the deck I am planning on. Pioneer Deck

Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
IMO those "typhoon" or whatever subs are too weak, there the replacement for the old "tornado" which my friend owns....for the price they are good...i personally built my entire system off of ebay...you just have to be really careful, and know what your buying, and generally i'd buy it from an "ebay store" that has atleast a few thousand feedback....in my car i currnetly have a Rockford Fosgate 801X amp pushing 2 rockford 12inch subs....everything which i bought off ebay...my amp is rated at 800watts RMS at 4 ohms, but it tested much higher than that, it fell just short of 1000 watts continuous RMS...and it maxes at 2400watts...i got this amp for $250 brand new, in box complete...each sub i have is 400watts RMS and 800watts Peak at 4ohms...i got each sub for under $100 if i remember correctly brand new in box complete....this hits very very solid and very very loud....i also have daisy chained a 500watt amp to the 2400watt RF, to power 2 6x9's...this way my midrange can keep up with the bass....all of this was done on a budget......its been my experience to only buy namebrand quality peices, the best you can buy pays off in the long run...generic/cheaper products just do not perform like the quality peices offered by the higher end manufacturers...on paper it may look like a cheaper amp will do the same for a lesser price, but in real-world performance you get what you pay for........just my .02's...
Re: Newbie. Want to put in deck and subs and amp
haha alright thanks. My friends all recommended Kicker for subs. Said they are very high quality. SO I am looking for i guess 2 Kicker 12" 600 watt subs. So if you could piece together everything I would need that would be great or whatever you recommend hook me up with a link to it. Thanks. Do you think this can be done with an $800 budget? I want something loud and hard. Thanks
