Need help installing eclipse cd player and using factory amp.

I am trying to install an eclipse cd7200 cd player and use the factory speakers for now until i get around to ordering a better stereo. My problem is that i cant find the remote wire on the car harness that turns the monsoon amp on. I tried taking it to an audio shop (not a bestbuy type place) and having them look at it but they could not figure it out and i dont want to pay them a bunch of money to mess with it. thanx.

Don't kill me if I am wrong, it was a long time ago... It appears you are looking for a PINK wire.

The place i bought the car off of said something about a pink wire too, but he could not confirm that it was the right one. if i hook the blue remote wire up to the pink wire, it sends such low voltage that it could not hurt anything anyway or no. should i check the pink wire for voltage before making the connection to ensure i dont damage the deck? thanx. btw the audio place i got it from has already spliced the harness into the deck but i think its for a non monsoon system. but i can just unsplice the blue wire at the harness and hook it directly to the deck anyway right? its a 99 with everything stock so far on the stereo

I bypassed the monsoon amp but if I remember correctly there is no turn on wire. It turns on when there is an output from the radio speaker wires. If you have a power antenna you would need to feed that wire, but the harness is identical to non monsoon system. Are you not getting any sound now?

It could be a number of things. The little tweeters in the hatch (and doors in Firebird) are not amplified. If they play, you will have to turn the volume up quite a bit, then it is the monsoon amp. That would be my guess.

No power antannae. i tried pluging in the deck and it would turn on like they said but no sound even with the deck turned all the way up. If the amp turns on when the speakers see power, where would the speakers get power from if the amp is turned off or the deck isnt wired directly to the speaker, bypassing the amp comepletely?

I know on my Bose system there is definitely an amp on/off signal wire. I had it hooked up wrong (to the power antenna wire) and had no sound. Hooked it up right, and works perfectly.

well i found out today that the head unit doesnt have an internal amp so that would help explain why the amp isnt turning on.
