Talking I need advice on a setup

I own a 96 Camaro and the Bose system is pretty nice for me, but I want a little more boom. I also have t-tops and I still want to keep the area in the trunk open. What is your advice for a good sounding setup?

Get a PAC OEM-1 with the GM21 and AMP-RCA wiring harnesses to interface an outboard amp to your BOSE system. Then pickup a Stealthbox type sub enclosure and a subwoofer and you're good to go. Stop by Sub Thump and check out the enclosures that Steve has to offer.

Thats pretty nice, but I dont see how you can still close the trunk. I guess there must be barely enough room. Anyhow, does anyone have some pics of completed projects using this?

Exactly what I would have said. Yes, the hatch still closes fine. Stealthbox makes use of otherwise un-used space!

I'm not using the OEM-1 but you can see what my sub setup looks like here. It's at the bottom of the page.

I just got an idea to put the amps. Why not mount them under that board that flips over the hatch area? This will keep them concealed and if you want, you can flip it over to see or show them off..

There are a few reasons why I personally wouldn't go that route. First, amps are designed to be mounted right side up or vertically. Mounting them upside down impedes their ability to cool. Second, you have to shoot screws into the flap to mount the amp and that would look like hell with screws sticking thru the other side of the flap. Third, there's no way to hide the wiring. "Showing them off" would look like crap.

There are a ton of VERY creative people out there though. I'm sure somebody could come up with a way to hide the wiring and screws. But, he is correct about the cooling problem. You could install a fan but now it's a bigger hastle then it's worth.

Well to hide the wires, I would use something like wire loom and i guess I would mostly keep the flap up to allow to cool, and down when I go somewehre.

Well, there's nothing stopping you from doing it but I still think it will look like hell.

I was thinking something a little better then wire loom..... that probably wouldn't look too good. I was think of a whole baffle board attached to it. Maybe use a router to put in your favorite brands symbol?
