How would I run two batteries?

Question How would I run two batteries?

Should I use an isolator, relay or what? I know you can just connect the two (as long as you do not put them in series) but I have heard that is not safe and their is a risk of over charging the batteries if you hook them up that way. Is this safe or not and would you recommend this method?

Hmm I guess I do need an isolator or an relay then.
