I will be running a JL 12w6v2 off of a kenwood kac-929...What does the gain and other controls on the amp need to be set to?

Re: help with gain, etc.

Keep the gain at around half, and keep the volume down for the first week or so to break in the sub. After the break in period, get the volume where you want it. Experiment with it too.

What you want is for the loudest volume in midrange you can stand to equal the loudest volume of bass you can stand. I'm not familier with all the features of this amp either. Does it have bass boost? sub-sonic? If so, the subsonic needs to be set at about half. If you allow too much subsonic, it could blow your sub.

In fact, do you have any pics of your setup? It's really hard to know your needs if all i'm going on is my experience.

Yuo want the second one down. You want to match the gain to the output of the radio.

Re: help with gain, etc.

The BEST way to set your gains is with an oscilloscope and a calibrated test disc. I use the AutoSound 2000 CD104 to set mine.

If you don't have access to an O-scope you can also use the disc to set your gain by ear. I can burn you a copy of the CD and provide you with directions how to do it. PM me if you're interested.
