fuse problem help please!!!
okay have a 97 ss and the dimmer fuse keeps blowing everytime i turn my lights on also the radio has no constant power... checked all the radio fuses they are good. i have an aftermarket radio that i installed(car audio installer is my profession so its not that)... i had a 30amp fuse laying in the car i swapped the dimmer fuse to the 30amp and tried to turn the lights on and instead of the dimmer fuse blowing the taillight fuse blew... does this mean there is a short in the taillights? please help
more than likely anything wrong with the taillights wiring is due to you putting a 30 amp fuse on the illumination circuit. If the radio was just done and the problem started, then you did something wrong like switch the constant with the dimmer wire. But usually it is that the dimmer is exposed and grounding out. When you exceed the amp rating on a circuit, you risk damaging other components
Yea, like he said... sounds like either something is hooked up wrong, or shorted out.
And just because your radio was "professionally installed" doesn't mean squat... I've seen lots of professional jobs that were a complete Charley-Foxtrot.

It didn't start after the radio was put in all I was saying is the radio stopped working also it lost its constant power and by professionally installed I ment I did it myself and I do radios all day I'm certified in mobile electronics and I know what youse are refering to about the dimmer being hooked up wrong but mines not even hooked up and the wire is capped... also when I put a diff fuse in my odometer dosent work its a 97 digital one any relation?
