Can you disable headlights from turning on automatically?

I heard there is a sensor that senses when it gets dark and puts the headlights on automatically. I want to know if there's a way to disconnect the switch or sensor. I like being in control of my lights, and don't like how as soon as you drop the e-brake the lights come on. If there is no way to bypass this, it's fine... But has anyone out there figured out to bypass this? Thanks...

Very easy to defeat. You need a 10K-Ohm, 1/2 watt resistor from Radio Shack. They come in a package of 5 for a couple of bucks. I bought mine several years ago and the part # then was 271-1126.

Pop the dash cover up, and in the center you'll find a little sensor. Unplug it, bend the resistor to fit down in both ends of the plug for the sensor, put some electrical tape around it to keep it from coming out, and then put top of the dash back in. You'll be all set. That will disable the automatic headlights, but not the DRL's.

You can also just not lower the e-brake all the way (on manual trans cars; not sure about autos). Leave it one click up; the brake will be fully disengaged, but the lights won't come on. You just have to tolerate the BRAKE light on the dash.
