Re: Factory sub, aftermarket amp?

i was a bit curious about a similar setup as well. i think i read somewhere that the way the bose stuff is designed makes it not work with aftermarket amps.

???

The Bose sub has its own "amp", you cannot run it off of your amp. The bose head unit is a low line input to all the speakers which have thier own "amps". At least thats how it was in my 93. If you got a high level to low level converter and then ran the wires from your amp/stereo through the converter then to the bose subs "amp" it might work.....just not 100% sure.

so u think that is why the subs in my 94 t/a sound like crap when u actually put some base out to the speakers? I know that they are not blow but when ever i turn the MX bass drive on in the Alpine HU it makes that subs go freakin crazy.

Re: Factory sub, aftermarket amp?

More than likely, I actually ran wires off the bose sub speaker to a high level input into my amp and then to two tens....It sounded ok, it just didnt drive the woofers as hard as it should of....Supposedly you cannot hook anything to a Bose system....but mine semi worked for a year, before I changed everything.

I was told that the bose speakers are like 12 ohms or something, I never gauged them so I dont know if thats true or not.

Re: Factory sub, aftermarket amp?

isn't this something the PAC OEM-1 would do? I'm wondering the same as i'm going to need to add an amp for a sub and an input for a computer...

Re: Factory sub, aftermarket amp?

Why don't you just run the BOSE sub like stock from your HU and use speaker inputs to your amp, to your woofers? Why would you run the BOSE woof input to your amp? I don't get it. Are you just trying to save wire or something?
