deactivate rear hatch sensor (for subs)
deactivate rear hatch sensor (for subs)
I need to deactivate the latch sensor in the rear so the lights don't come on when the hatch is opened. The Q-Logic box i have fits fine in the t-top area, but the lights will not go off when it is back there. The hatch has no problem closing, but it won't register that it is closed even when it is firmly shut. Anyone know how to do that?
Hey megabass, have you ever had this problem with any of your sub boxes?

The wire you'd need to cut to disable that notification that your hatch is open is:
orange/black and it's located in a blue plug at the BCM. The BCM is located in the passenger kick, just in front of the blower
motor.
This wire will show a ( - ) or ground connection when the hatch is open.

Thanks, but could you give me a little more info on this? i don't want to cut a wire without being COMPLETELY sure of the results. Will cutting this wire cause any problems with the hatch release button in the car or with the stock alarm system?
No. To the best of my knowledge that wire is ONLY the sensor that tells the car that the hatch is open. It's one wire that show's negative when you open the hatch. If you're overly concerned, cut it in a place where you know you can splice it back together.
A friend of mine was telling me today how him and this other girl that go to our school, whenever they hit a speed bump, their dome light comes on. They both have the same year car (97) What in the world would cause that? He said he thinks its the rear hatch sensor. I am just curious.
On my 95 Camaro were the latch on the rear hatch goes into the lock right were your enclosure sits there is a lever just in front of the lock that moves up and down and this turns the light on and off .
Mine has that same levar. However on cars 98-02 there is a secondary switch for the sensor that is designed to work in conjunction with the levar switch. If both are not press together, the light doesn't go off.
I think the LT1s didn't have this annoying feature.
