Cd player upgrade while keeping stock stereo.

I have 00’ with the non cd player radio with the tape player only. Im wanting to keep the or a oem radio. Im wanting a cd player and dont care about blutooth. Does anybody know any way to install a cd player without having to use an aftermarket stereo with those digital screens.

This is the stereo I have now

In 2000 model year, you could order the car with a stereo receiver with a cassette, or with a CD player (not both). The 2000 factory service manual confirms this, showing the CD player as RPO “UN0”. Have you looked online for a used factory CD player?

There was also an option for an add-on multi-disc CD changer mounted in the hatch area.

I have looked but i noticed the cd players have an extra plug and wiring in the back that i dont. Would i still be able to use those?

And are you saying would i be able to use a multi cd changer in the back? and if so what are the best options

To sort out the wiring differences, you need to look at the 2000 factory service manual. Free download:

The wiring diagrams are very complicated.

I'm saying there was a factory CD changer available. I do not know how that would be integrated into the factory radio. Maybe that's what the extra plug would be for. Again, the factory service manual would show how it is connected. If you have the 2000 Owner's Manual, the operation of the factory CD changer should be shown in the entertainment section. If you don't have an Owner's Manual, there are downloads available if you look for them.

I know you are probably looking for more detailed explanations, but I do not have any personal experience with the 1998-2002 model audio systems. They tend to be a bit more complex than the 1993-1997 systems. My 94 Formula (purchased new) had a factory cassette head unit with the 6-band equalizer. I installed an aftermarket CD changer in the rear hatch area. It had a stand-alone control system, that I put in the console. I had instructions from Crutchfield to tie the changer audio into the factory head unit, but this was ~30 years ago, and I don't remember the details.

And unfortunately, although this site shows 100,000+ members, not many of them are active any more, maybe a half-dozen of us that show up from time-to-time.
