Can I move back speakers to front?
Can I move back speakers to front?
Ok, I currently have a setup (in sig) that I am kinda regretting a little now. So what I want to do is move the bigger speakers in the back, into the doors in the front. I currently have a component setup in the doors now, with the crossover and the tweeters in the A pillars. The rear speakers have tweeters in front of the speaker. Would I just be able to swap the front speakers with the back ones? Do i have to take out the crossover? Im assuming the speakers wont sound great in the back without the tweaters, but whatever. Also, would I have to make any adjustments on my amp?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Can I move back speakers to front?
No. A crossover filters out a band of un-wanted frequencies. In a component set, you actually have two crossovers. A highpass and a lowpass. The highpass filters out low frequencies and sends the rest to the tweeters. The lowpass is vice versa. So if you move your co-axils to the front, they will only be playing midrange freqs when they were built to play full range. The tweeter would be useless. In the rear, your diamond woofer will be playing full range when it was meant to only play midrange.
Just a quick question..... why the hell did you buy a 5 1/4" component set?

Cuz I'm an idiot and let me "friend" who "knew about car audio" set everything up. I mean it sounds totally awesome, but I just need it to be a little louder. Maybe if I just got a sub, it would do the trick.
