Bad radio receptoin

I just installed a new radio. I had problems with my stock one getting good FM receptoin when the car is running. The aftermarket does the same thing. it just adds more static when the engine is on than when it's off. I have a antenna noise reducer and i have one on the power lines. It's not the speaker lines because when a cd is in it sounds great. Any suggestions. I think my ground is fine

Try taking the noise reducer off the antenna. Sometimes they hurt more than they help. There are instructions for checking your antenna here: www.installdr.com You don't have MSD wires, do you?

what would MSD wire have to do with it?

Re: Bad radio receptoin

I have problems with reception in my 94 as well... cannot figure out what it is, it plays all the cd's in the cd changer just fine, but when it comes to radio, it gets 1 station I can get about 8 or 9 in the ole' 90 suburban with 235k miles, but hardly 1 in the firebird Sometimes I get sick and tired of listening to cd's and just wanna jam out to something different or listen to something new on the radio, but can't

Also, my steering wheel mounted radio controls don't work either, none... I was wandering if there is a procedure and/or diagram on how to diagnose the problem with that as well... thanks guys... sorry for adding to a year old post
