Alarm siren ?

Hey everyone, the previous owner had an aftermarket alarm installed and they mounted it on the shock tower brace right underneath the strut tower brace and butted up against the traction control motor, which stripped the traction control motor wires to bare wire. Well, anyways, I rerouted it in the driver fender area around my cold air kit. When I go to hook up the two wires, the alarm automatically goes off. I have hit the "unlock" button on the fob which I thought would disarm the alarm, but it still goes off. Does anyone have any ideas. Is there a special procedure? I know nothing about aftermarket alarms except that I think they are a pain in the a**. The previous owner didn't give me any literature on this alarm either. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Alarm siren ?

just let it go off. if im not mistaken, when you connect the wires, the alarm is supposed to go off. you should be able to turn it off with the remote, or just let it go. it should turn off after 30 seconds if it is anything like mine.

Re: Alarm siren ?

I dropped the knee bolster and it appears to be an aftermarket GM alarm. When it goes off, I'll press the button but it does nothing. I'll try to let it go off for 30 seconds then and see what that does.

Re: Alarm siren ?

most alarms will do this and during this point you will have to press a particular combination of buttons to program the remote, the brain itself or even the siren patterns. this all varies by manufacturer as well. a factory gm alarm shouldn't do that i don't believe...
