iPod Suggestions HELP!!!

I want to hook my iPod to my factory radio so that I can still use the steering wheel controls. Im looking for all options I have to hook this up to my factory radio. Currently I am using a kenwood fm modultor as seen in the link below. It works but the sound quality is pretty crappy. Does anybody have any other suggestions? Ive head that the fm modulators that use the higher stations (107.7 107.9 etc) have better sound quality.

Re: iPod Suggestions HELP!!!

Sorry.. I've bene a little busy and didn't read up much on the board..
Anyways I bought the iPod interface adapter which basically goes into the back of your radio (98-02) and works inplace of the CD-changer. I never had the changer but the radio is equipped with the wiring.

The product contains an interface which will connect your ipod to a controller that plugs into your head unit.
This will allow your steering wheel mounted controls to work as well.
I bought it so that I don't have stuff around and I just placed the ipod in the glove box. (The wire is long enough for one to be creative and keep it mounted in the center console but I didn't want to make any holes or anything so I left it be)
The product charges it as well so it's no problem at all and uses the bottom connection so theoretically you could also add your headphones to it but I don't see a point. (i've not tried it though)

Here is the product. It is a little pricey and you could find it on ebay/other places a lot cheaper but I just picked it up from cardomain. So far no complaints at all. It's been on my car for about 8 months. (PS you will also need the AB-GM9 cable to plug it into your head unit. disregard the warning about the tape thingy.. it works with the monsoon CD head unit)

let me know if you need any further info.

Re: iPod Suggestions HELP!!!

Thanks alot! Thats exactly what Im looking for. Ive tried just about every fm modulator out there, and they all suck! I found the aux pod on ebay for about $150, so Im gonna pick one up. Do you know if I am still able to use the factory cd changer without physically removing the radio and switching plugs?

Re: iPod Suggestions HELP!!!

See that's the thing. The iPod interface will replace the connection going to the changer so you will lose the changer function. My SS didn't have the changer and rather than buy one it was better to invest in the ipod which would hold more songs than the changer.. also I would have a portable player too (in case I'm at the beach etc.)

You will have to remove the headunit for installation though..(it's very simple really as I'm not an expert By ANY means.. lol

or you could try connection the GM9 cable to the rear hatch area where the changer is located although I haven't attempted this so I don't know if it will work.

Good luck. (The sound quality is EXCELLENT - bass transfers so well that my radio is set to middle (bass control) and it still kicks very good. (ipod EQ is normal)
